Celtic keeping hold of in-form star amidst £20m PL interest would maintain domestic dominance

Why Celtic should keep hold of Odsonne Edouard amidst interest

According to a report from the Sun, Crystal Palace are planning a £20million January swoop for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard.

The 21-year-old Celtic striker has 9 goals in 11 SPL games so far this season. He has also been in incredible form for his country and made it 11 goals in six games for France Under-21 with a stunning finish against Switzerland earlier, although his side eventually went down 3-1.

The striker is clearly full of confidence and scored another penalty in the last minute to beat Georgia 3-2.

Odsonne Edouard’s performances for the Hoops haven’t gone unnoticed, with Crystal Palace eyeing a move during the winter transfer window.

The Eagles are struggling for goals, with just 11 in 13 Premier League games so far. They view Edouard as a solution to their goalscoring woes and are looking at offering Scottish champions Celtic £20million for his signature.

Nevertheless, Celtic must not entertain any offers from Palace and keep hold of Edouard this season. Celtic signed Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth up to £9million and the Frenchman has been an inspired signing for the Hoops.

The 21-year-old has been the Scottish champions’ primary source of goals this season, with 14 strikes in 25 games in all competitions already to his name. His performances have been really good, and he has helped Neil Lennon’s side to the top of the Premiership standings.

Furthermore, with Celtic having just Vakoun Issof Bayo and Leigh Griffiths as the other striking options, it is vital that Edouard stays. .

Things are looking absolutely great for the 21-year-old and it would be in his best interests, along with Celtic, for him to stay at the club.

Verdict

Celtic need reinforcements in January to continue their push for silverware this season. They must bolster their forward department but there won’t be a better boost than keeping hold of Edouard amidst Crystal Palace interest.

The 21-year-old is banging goals left, right and centre and he should only get better in the coming years.
