Celtic FC News: Brendan Rodgers denies Leicester City links

Brendan Rodgers

Celtic FC News: Brendan Rodgers says he is inclined to work with Celtic amidst interest from Leicester City. (h/t BBC Football)

The Northern Irish manager was heavily linked with the English club soon after the sacking of manager Claude Puel. (h/t BBC Football)

Puel witnessed the final day of his managerial stint after Leicester lost 4-1 to Crystal Palace. The Frenchman was in charge of the Foxes since taking over in 2017.

The Frenchman helped the side to finish ninth in the previous season.

Rodgers denies Premier League interest

Rodgers has denied all the interests by saying he is focused on the Scottish Premiership (h/t BBC Football):

“My job is to concentrate on the football aspect, and that is with Celtic.

“I’ve been stood here for two and a half years and I’ve been asked similar questions, my message is always very, very clear, I’m very concentrated on the game.”

He added that he was focused on getting three points ahead of their game against Motherwell.

Rodgers also refuted linked with the Foxes when he was asked about their interest after the English club’s defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Hoops manager has set his eyes on the third treble this season after moving to Glasgow in 2016. Since then the former Liverpool manager has been influential for the Scottish side helping them win seven domestic trophies.

The Scottish giants are the leading the table ahead Rangers by eight points. Rodgers’ side haven’t suffered a defeat in the Premiership since the turn of the year.

However, for all their domestic domination, Europe has been a major test for the Celtic manager. The Hoops were knocked out of the Europa League by Valencia recently.
