Celtic FC News: Brendan Rodgers optimistic about Europa League clash against Valencia

Celtic FC News: Brendan Rodgers of Celtic is confident ahead of the Europa League clash against Valencia while speaking to the club’s website (h/t Sky Sports).

Celtic haven’t lost any games in the Premiership since the turn of the year

The Hoops suffered a 2-0 deficit against the Spaniards at Celtic Park last week in the round of 32 first-leg tie.

Following the defeat, Rodgers admitted the poor display from his side and said the Hoops paid for their mistakes.

Now with the second leg in the horizon, the Hoops manager is confident of playing at the Mestalla.

He said, (h/t Sky Sports)

“The first goal in this game will be important”

“If we can get the first goal in the game, we don’t need to go flying in after that. We just need to settle ourselves into the game and find our confidence.”

The manager added that the Hoops should enter the game with confidence regardless of the difficulties the Spanish side could impose.

Valencia prove their mettle in Scotland

The La Liga side were decent in the first-leg leaving Celtic with a two-goal deficit.

Denis Cheryshev and Ruben Sobrino were the goal scorers while Daniel Parejo played a pivotal role. (h/t Sky Sports)

“We know it’s going to be a tough game. You can see the level that they’re at and the investment, everything is there to see that they’re an outstanding team,” Rodgers added.

Valencia have scored two away goals

Valencia haven’t lost any of their last five games in the Europa League at the Mestalla which is a daunting factor for the Scottish club.

Fortunately, the Hoops carry some momentum after winning a thriller against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, and extending their winning streak since the start of 2019.

Meanwhile, Garcia Toral’s side produced a goalless draw against Espanyol. In fact, it was the fourth stalemate for the Spanish side in a row.
