Celtic FC News: Brendan Rodgers on the wish list as Maurizio Sarri replacement

Celtic FC News: According to The Scotsman, the Celtic manager has emerged as a possible replacement for Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Alongside some big names like Zinedine Zidane, Frank Lampard and Gianfranco Zola, the Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers has also been cited as the next possible gaffer at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri’s downfall

Unlike the beginning of the season, Sarri has had a tough time in the past few months. The team seem unable to play according to the Italian, and they have slid down the league standings too.

They have slipped now to the sixth in the table. And furthermore, the former Napoli manager could be on the brink of the exit from the London club.

Rodgers on the wish list

Brendan Rodgers has done brilliantly at Celtic, and has set his eyes on the Premiership title for the eighth time in a row.

The former Liverpool manager achieved trebles in the last two seasons and now looks to extend to a third one.

Owing to his amount of success, he often gets linked with the English clubs (h/t Scotsman). Now, Rodgers has his name on the wish list of the next possible managers at Chelsea.

Rodgers spoke about the struggles of Sarri at Stamford Bridge. He said, (h/t The Scotsman)

“The world and society have changed and that means football has changed too and players are now more protected.

“It’s becoming much more difficult, but you have to adapt as a manager and that’s very important.”

Prior to the game against Malmo in the Europa League, Sarri had his say on their current scenario. ( h/t The Scotsman)

“I have to think that I will be the manager of Chelsea for a long time, otherwise I cannot work. “We need to win three, four matches in a row. It’s the only solution.

I can understand very well the frustration of our fans because they are used to winning. Now we are in trouble, so I can understand very well.

He added that there is no turning back for his side for the remaining fixtures.
