Predicted Wolves Line-up To Face Sunderland In EFL Championship

It’s six wins in a row now for the league leaders and they face a beleaguered Sunderland at the weekend in what is another huge opportunity for grabbing three points.

Ruben Neves returns to the midfield and may well be the only change to a fluid and in-form line-up. Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to stick to his 3-4-3 formation and their relentless style means they are unlikely to lack the motivation required to beat one of the relegation favourites.

Helder Costa is pushing for a place, but it’ll be hard to break the front three of Cavaleiro, Bonatini and Jota until they are forced into it and so the starting XI should look a lot like this:

Formation: 3-4-3

Manager: Nuno Espirito Santo

GK – John Ruddy

Still going strongly as Wolves’ last line of defence, not that he has been needed a whole lot recently.

CB – Ryan Bennett

It’ll be Bennett or Batth in this role, the former likely to keep his place for now, alongside the impressive Coady.

CB – Conor Coady

A revelation in this role, Coady is being watched by numerous Premier League clubs including Newcastle United, with a view to a January move.

CB – Willy Boly

Having found his feet in this division, he is now flying. He should, along with his two centre-back colleagues, have no trouble in dealing with Grabban and co.

Willy Boly

RWB – Matt Doherty

Another start is likely for the wing-back who has surprised a few people with his performances in this role.

LWB – Barry Douglas

The admirable attacking full-back has been enjoying his wing-back role and will be a danger once more.

CM – Ruben Neves

Neves should come straight back into the side and has the opportunity to run the midfield here.

CM – Romain Saiss

A regular partner for Neves, he has been the subject of media speculation regarding interest from Liverpool.

RW – Ivan Cavaleiro

He is keeping Helder Costa out of the side and that tells you all you need to know about his abilities.

Leo Bonatini

LW – Diogo Jota

Probably Wolves’ best player right now, the on-loan Atletico Madrid winger is superb and is fairly likely to grab a goal and/or an assist in this one.

ST – Leon Bonatini

The on-loan Brazilian just keeps getting better and better and is now bossing this league. Wolves had originally wanted to buy another striker in the winter window for big money but now that they completely trust Bonatini, they simply need a back-up, hence the potential move for today’s rival Lewis Grabban.
