Wigan Athletic Football Club, based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, was founded in 1932.

Wigan Athletic competes in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. They played their initial home games at Springfield Park before shifting to DW Stadium in 1999.

Wigan, nicknamed “the Latics” and “the Tics”, are owned by Dave Whelan and managed by Paul Cook, who helped the club win the League One title last season and earn promotion to the Championship.

Wigan have won 11 major honours.

Kevin Langley holds the record for most league appearances for Wigan, having played 317 times while Andy Liddell has scored the most league goals for them, i.e. 70.
