Cardiff shouldn’t think twice about bringing back this 28-year-old speedster next season – would be a wonderful move by Warnock

Cardiff City opinion: Should Cardiff sign Oumar Niasse permanently?

According to a report from Liverpool Echo, Besiktas are keen on a move for Oumar Niasse in the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old has been on loan with Cardiff City since January and despite not being able to find the net, he has found himself a suitor from Turkey.

Niasse failed to start a single game for parent club Everton in the first half of the season before making a loan switch to the Bluebirds in the winter transfer window. Niasse is yet to get off the mark but despite that, Cardiff should make a permanent move for him in the summer.

Cardiff’s status as a Premier League club is hanging by a thread, having won just one of their last 5 games. The Bluebirds have 6 games left in the season to close the 5-point gap between themselves and 17th-placed Southampton. With Liverpool and Manchester United still left to play, it is a mountain to climb.

Neil Warnock’s side have pulled their socks up in recent games but have been terribly unlucky to not come away with anything from a few games.

However, Cardiff should now focus on what’s left in the season and if they get relegated, their immediate target has to be a return to the Premier League.

The Bluebirds’ biggest problem, if they go down, will be the issue of keeping all their players. One player who has the potential to be a real leader in their front line is Oumar Niasse and Cardiff should make him a priority in the summer irrespective of where they finish.

There is a lot more to Oumar Niasse’s game than just goals and assists. The Senegalese international is a relentless runner and is someone who shows real heart in his performances. His work rate is arguably one of the best in the league and he can be a massive asset to Neil Warnock.

Niasse’s inclusion in the squad opens up a whole new dimension to Cardiff’s game and it will allow Warnock to experiment with his attacking style. Niasse is brilliant in the air and is strong enough to hold the ball up until his teammates make their runs.

The Everton man’s tendency to drift out to either wing opens up a lot of space for other attackers in the middle and his runs combined with his pace and ability to shrug off opponents on his runs could be a huge asset for Cardiff next season.

Conclusion

Cardiff should not have any doubts over Oumar Niasse’s ability despite his failure to have an impact in front of goal this season. The 28-year-old’s all-round game will have a major impact on his teammates’ performances and Neil Warnock should bring him back next season.
