Cardiff City opinion: Bluebirds in for Will Vaulks – good move?

According to reports from news outlet Football Scotland, former Premier League side, Cardiff City, are closing in on a move for Will Vaulks. The Bluebirds are looking to reinforce their side and believe that the 25-year-old midfielder is just the man to help them do that.

After what was a disappointing season ultimately, Neil Warnock and his men were the final club to get relegated. A few changes here and there and had other factors not played a part, then maybe things would be very different for Cardiff City. But that’s not the way the Premier League works and their struggles eventually became just too hard to overcome.

Yet, this shouldn’t be the end of the road for the Bluebirds as they do have a team left to challenge. It’s also why a move for Will Vaulks makes so much sense.

With just one year left on his current deal, it seems that an agreement has been reached by Cardiff City and Rotherham for the midfielder.

But that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, with the Bluebirds linked with a move previously. They are not the only side, with Sheffield United and even an unnamed Serie A side also in the race. \

Nothing materialized and his value continued to shoot up after a string of commanding performances towards the end of the season.

The 25-year-old’s ability to play a variety of roles, including as a centre-back does make him worth the move. For Cardiff City, however, it will be his ability to play as a defensive midfielder that will attract them going forward, with their current crop of midfielders struggling.

Victor Camarasa was the best out of the lot with the likes of Joe Ralls, Leandro Bacuna, Stuart O’Keefe, Loic Damour and a few others all struggling.  However, while Vaulks won’t score too many goals, the Englishman will add a bit of solidity to the Bluebirds.

Furthermore, having someone like Vaulks will allow Warnock to play a more offensive style. As he would have a reliable destroyer standing right in front of his back-line.

Things will change and with a mere £2 million fee, the 25-year-old combined with his experience, confidence and ability should help Cardiff move forward.

Conclusion

Cardiff City cannot afford to lose any more ground and their next job will be staying in the Championship or thriving in the Premier League. Adding someone like Will Vaulks will help the club do just that in the near future and with time, the 25-year-old could emulate Aron Gunnarson.
