Captain Scott Brown To Miss Out – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Celtic Lineup To Face Bayern Munich In The UEFA Champions League

Predicted Celtic Line-up To Face Bayern Munich In The Champions League

Scottish champions Celtic will travel to the Allianz Arena on 19th October to face German giants Bayern Munich in a UEFA Champions League encounter.

Heynckes has replaced Carlo Ancelotti as Bayern coach, but the Bavarians would certainly be quite tough and it won’t be an easy match for Celtic. They have beaten Anderlecht but have lost to Paris Saint-Germain so far in this season’s competition, while they continue to be ahead of Aberdeen on goal difference at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Having said that, Brendan Rodgers’ men do seem like the weaker team on paper against Bayern.

Team News

Early club news confirmed the doubts regarding the fitness of captain Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic, Jozo Simunovic and Mikael Lustig. All five players were missing from Saturday’s victory over Dundee but it is unsure if they will be fit for Wednesday’s clash in Munich.

Here’s how Celtic could line up against Bayern

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Craig Gordon (GK)

Gordon is expected to continue manning the goal when Celtic face Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

Tierney has been one of Celtic’s most influential players and he will certainly not miss out on this game.

Nir Bitton (CB)

One of the rocks in the centre of Celtics’s defence, Bitton should be available. The Scottish club need him if they are to neutralise the attacking threats posed by Bayern.

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

In Simunovic’s absence, Boyata will be expected to assume the responsibility. A lot will depend on his ability to link up with Bitton in order to provide a strong cover.

Mikael Lustig (RB)

Their defence will be completed by Lustig, who will take up his usual role at right-back.

Olivier Ntcham (DM)

The defensive midfielders will have to provide cover to the defence while also supplying power while attacking, which will make Ntcham’s role all the more crucial.

Callum McGregor (CM)

Celtic will definitely miss Scott Brown but it will be a huge responsibility for McGregor to do justice to the role in such a big match.

James Forrest (CAM)

Forrest was deployed in the same role in their match against Paris Saint-Germain. The player failed to do much but he will be looking to do a lot better against Bayern.

Scott Sinclair (LW)

Sinclair will be tasked with guarding the left-hand side of the midfield – something he has been doing quite well over the last few matches.

Patrick Roberts (RW)

Roberts has proven to be crucial in orchestrating attacks while going forward, and Celtic will be counting on him to get things flowing in Munich.

Leigh Griffiths (CF)

Leigh Griffiths has been in good form lately, so he will be hoping to get his name on the score sheet more than once to cause trouble to the hosts.
