Can Manchester United Solidify Their Leadership By Winning Against Arsenal?

Manchester United

It seems like part of the success formula in this year’s Premier League is being a Manchester team – the City gave their place to the United, who is now the #1 at the League Table. However, they may very well have to vacate that sweet spot after this week’s match with Arsenal – although the Gunners don’t really look too menacing, they could still outrun the Devils.

Although the two clubs are only going to meet for the first time this season, they‘ve already played two games this year of which one was won by Arsenal and the other was drawn. In the Premier League, Man United has been doing rather well, only losing once to Swansea City and winning against Tottenham and Liverpool, while Arsenal has been having a bumpy and rather inconsistent season so far.

Still, neither of the sides was brilliant in the Champion League games. Arsenal has quite infamously lost to Dinamo Zagreb and then a bit less so to Olympiacos. Meanwhile Man United was beaten by PSV Eindhoven but redeemed themselves somewhat with this week‘s win over the German Wolfsburg.

The odds are currently in the Gunners’ favour, although not overwhelmingly so: the UK-licensed bookie TonyBet values their win at 21/20 to United’s 11/4. Arsenal doesn’t look like they could score an easy victory, although the Devils don’t really look like they could easily crush their contenders, either. A tough match ahead – and probably a very entertaining one, too.

Another interesting game should be Tottenham vs Swansea City. The odds predict a difficult match for both sides, however, the clubs’ history tells a different story. Last time the Swans managed to win was back in 1991 – which was followed by eight Spurs’ victories, of which seven were consecutive, and just one draw. Can Swansea City triumph against Tottenham for the first time in 24 years?

As many English clubs are playing both in the Champions and the Europa Leagues, the performances have started to show that. The League table is moving rather rapidly, and there are a lot of teams closely following one another, waiting to take each other’s place. No rest for the wicked – and a lot of brilliant games for the fans. The Premier League is just getting warmed-up.
