Wolves making a move for this 16-year-old promising prodigy would be a bright step towards the future

Wolves opinion: Can Ramello Mitchell make an impact at Wolves?

The Daily Mail has reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers have entered the race for Birmingham starlet Ramello Mitchell.

The 16-year-old has been in fine form for Birmingham City’s youth sides, scoring at a prolific rate for both the U16 and U18 sides. Mitchell’s unique blend of speed, lethality and strength has made him a hot topic in football.

The former Championship side are doing very well in the Premier League this season, but manager Nuno Espirito Santo is still looking towards the future. They’ve also been linked with Benfica star Joao Felix (Daily Mail) among many others, as the club look to strengthen their youth sides.

To make things worse for Wolves, highly-rated youth star Kevin Berkoe is currently on trial at Sunderland (Sunderland Echo).

The 17-year-old has played in every game for Wolves’ U18 side since his move from Chelsea. However, with his lack of first-team game time this season, the young starlet is having a trial elsewhere.

But Ramello Mitchell will be different, as Wolves look to reinforce their youth teams and given the 16-year-old’s style of play, that’s no surprise. As a centre-forward, Mitchell uses his speed and agility to help him beat defenders at the youth level. But that won’t be enough at the senior level.

He’s shown signs of adapting his ability, bulking up in recent months to improve his skill and strength on the ball. That will help the young Birmingham striker in the near future and combined with his mentality, it would be a brilliant coup by Wolves.

However, they are not alone in  the race for the speedy Ramello Mitchell, with the Daily Mail further adding that Southampton and Leeds United are also in the race.

The Express has further added that Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are also present, having seen their scouts stunned by the 16-year-old.

However, Wolves do have the advantage in this situation over most of the other suitors because only Southampton and Leeds United would be able to offer the young starlet a better route to the first-team.
