Maurizio Sarri has made a wonderful start to life at Chelsea, racking up three wins in three games for the Blues. The former Napoli manager’s side has been playing some attractive attacking football. But the manager resorted to benching talisman Eden Hazard over the last two games.
The Belgian came off the bench in the opening two games and instantly influenced the game with his quality. According to the Express, Real Madrid are keen to acquire the Belgian star’s services. Los Blancos will be ruing the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who made the move to Juventus in the summer.
But football is football, and no player is irreplaceable. Madrid have identified Hazard as their prime target and there’s no guarantee what a player might do. Just in case the 27-year-old winger decides to make the switch, here are three options Sarri can look at when the January transfer window opens.
The American youngster has emerged as one of the brightest talents in Europe. He has been making a name for himself plying his trade with the German outfit. Generally deployed as an attacking midfielder, Pulisic is also versatile enough to play on the flanks.
He’s a slick dribbler of the ball just like Hazard and possesses a wide range of characteristics similar to the Belgian. A devastating player on the ball, the 19-year-old loves to take on defenders in the final third.
He is prolific in front of goal and is capable of supplying assists. He possesses all the qualities to flourish in Maurizio Sarri’s high intensity system.
Though not a like-to-like replacement for Hazard, Martial is a very talented midfielder who has proven his worth in the Premier League. He is a prolific goalscorer who terrorises defenders with his blistering pace and ability on the ball.
The Frenchman has often come off the bench to score for the Red Devils. Martial is extremely clinical in the final third. He is a sublime finisher and is capable of playing in a wide variety of positions as well. Martial would definitely look good in blue.
Though the Spaniard only signed a new contract last year which keeps him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2023, Chelsea could try and negotiate a move. Asensio broke onto the scenes last year and has since gone on to become a regular in the squad.
A very tenacious winger, Asensio is a left-footed player who possesses exquisite qualities. He is very much suited to flourish in a high octane system like Maurizio Sarri’s.

He scored a couple of blinders for the Blancos last year and poses a major threat in front of goal. At the age of 22, Asensio will prove to be a long-term investment for Chelsea.
