Buying 1 Out Of These 5 Players Could Mean That Chelsea Are Favourites To Win The Title Next Season

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing a goal scoring winger to boost their squad and could be more of a first team player than Mohamed Salah, who has been promising, but has shown that he needs more time to develop into a better player. Here is a list of players, Chelsea have been linked with and signing any one of these five players on top of the already crowded Stamford Bridge outfit would mean that the Blues have completed a successful transfer window and can go into pre-season training without any distractions.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The pacey versatile forward has emerged as a target for Chelsea and Newcastle after Dortmund have revealed that they would be listening to offers for the player. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would want to have more variety to his forward line after reportedly securing a deal with Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa. Aubameyang has not been a regular in Dortmund last season, but has managed to grab 13 goals and 4 assists in 32 appearances. Chelsea could use him as a choice along with Costa or as a substitute because of the contrast he offers to Diego Costa’s style.

Andriy Yarmolenko

The Ukranian winger plays for Dynamo Kiev and could be available for a cut-price £12million deal. He has been courted by Liverpool and Arsenal before, but now Chelsea seem to have joined the party as they look to add an experienced back-up to Willian. The 24 year old has had a decent tally of 54 goals in 146 appearances for Kiev and his main attributes are that he is quick and powerful with a tall frame of 6 foot 2 inches. Yarmolenko can be a decent buy for Chelsea, but it would mean the departure of Victor Moses and maybe a loan deal for Mohamed Salah. However, Yarmolenko could be more than be a luxury signing for the Blues.

Sami Khedira

Sami Khedira

Sami Khedira remains in Chelsea’s plans as they look to bolster the defensive midfield position. Khedira has had an injury prone season at Real Madrid, but has been in good form whenever he has been fit. After a long period of rest, Khedira seems to have geared up well as he played a vital role Germany’s 4-0 rout of Portugal in their World Cup opener. Mourinho is interested in re-uniting with his former midfield enforcer to join the likes of Matic and Fabregas. Although Ramires has been the preferred choice to play alongside Matic last season, the signing of Fabregas may point towards a change of plan from Mourinho. Khedira and Matic can form the double pivot with either of Fabregas or Oscar playing the No.10 role in big games, while the German can be rotated for other games.

Alex Song

Chelsea are reportedly planning a shock £10million bid for former Arsenal holding midfielder Alex Song. The Cameroonian, who move to Camp Nou from Arsenal is seemingly frustrated having made just a handful of appearances for the Catalan Giants and Chelsea seem look to revive the Cameroonian’s future by swooping him up from Barca. Song would be a decent addition to Chelsea’s line-up where the team seems to be one defensive midfielder short. With Khedira and Song being the rumoured targets, Mourinho is expected to sign at least one of them, which means Nigerian star John Obi Mikel could leave the club.

Toni Kroos

The German playmaker was rumoured to be going to Manchester United but the move broke down apparently because new coach Louis van Gaal was not interested in his services. Kroos has been unsettled in Bayern Munich for quite some time and could seek to enter the Premier League and its direct attacking style of football. Chelsea seem to be interested in his services as he enters his final year of contract with the Bavarian club.

The Blues could swoop him up for a sum of about £20 million and are reportedly willing to pay a substantially higher amount of wages to him in order to price him away from Real Madrid. Chelsea have a lot of attacking midfielders in their ranks and it remains to be seen whether they would really end up buying another one of them, who would ideally play in Oscar’s position creating another competition in the team. With Cesc Fabregas already brought into the club, Chelsea are widely expected to tweak their formation and with Kroos’s versatility to play anywhere in the midfield along, same attribute which Fabregas shares, Chelsea may have a surprise in the locker.
