Burnley – The Surprise Package Of The Season So Far

burnley

I don’t think anyone in the world could have possibly predicted that little old Burnley would be top of the championship in November. After being somewhat bang average last season finishing in mid-table I think it has taken everyone by surprise that Burnley are flying high and have put themselves in the best possible position going towards Christmas.

Sean Dyche has got his squad set up perfectly and is going about his business very good and quietly. Recently I heard a rumour that Dyche was linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job which just goes to show, have a good run for three months and you could walk into a Premier League job which is a bit strange in my opinion.

So why have Burnley started so well this season? It’s hard to put an exact finger on their recent success, and no you can’t just point at Danny Ings. One of the factors I have heard is the lack of changes being made to the team. I think it is a start and does help if you keep the team the same week in week out because each player gets used to each other and consistency does bring success sometimes and that is the case so far with Burnley.

Another massive part is obviously their lethal in-form strike partnership of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes. Vokes has 9 goals and Ings has 14 which isn’t a bad record for your strike partnership to have. Sam Vokes has struggled to really hit it off at any club he’s been at in the past but he is clearly enjoying and embracing his playing time in Burnley. On the other hand Ings has been hindered with injuries especially last season and when he was fit he was very much a fringe player, so that clearly shows that if you give someone games they will come good as Danny Ings is a massively hot prospect now just after scoring a few goals.

As Burnley are doing so well at the moment, there is always the thought of whether they could actually go on and clinch promotion or if the wheels may fall off slightly. The next few weeks will be absolutely crucial in regards to Burnley’s season and I think it will define where they are going in terms of the rest of the season.

My personal opinion is in between the two options in the sense that I think the wheels will half come off but I think they will stay up there in the mix but not quite at the summit.
