Burnley signing this tremendous 18-year-old talent would get Dyche a top prospect to work with – opinion

Why Burnley should go all out to sign Jayden Bogle

Back in March, the Derby Telegraph had claimed that Burnley were interested in signing Derby County right-back, Jayden Bogle.

One of the undoubted success stories of Derby County’s 2018-29 season was the emergence of teenager Jayden Bogle. After signing from Swindon Town back in 2016, the teenager has progressed through the Rams’ Under-18 and Under-23 ranks.

The right-back had made his senior team debut back in March 2018 but it was under the tutelage of Frank Lampard he enjoyed his breakthrough campaign at Pride Park. Bogle made 50 appearances in all competitions last season as Derby narrowly missed out on promotion.

Having enjoyed a fantastic season with the Rams, Burnley should revive their interest in Jayden Bogle and sign him this summer.

Burnley’s both the right-backs—Phil Bardsley and Matthew Lowton—have entered their 30s. Bardsley is actually 34 and edging towards the end of his career, while Lowton turned 30 in March. Certainly, both aren’t the forces they once were in their primes and Sean Dyche should replace them sooner rather than later.

Dyche must add a young, energetic and dynamic right-back to his defensive ranks, a player who can be an understudy to Lowton and take over from the former Aston Villa man in a couple of years’ time. To put things into perspective, Jayden Bogle would be a good fit at Turf Moor.

Bogle is an attacking right-back, renowned for his pace, energy and ability to run with the ball at his feet. As well as demonstrating a consistent threat going forward, the 18-year-old possesses tremendous ability to read the game defensively.

Two goals and nine assists for Derby in the Championship exactly speak volumes about his attacking traits.

The teenager’s positioning has been really impressive and under Sean Dyche, he could improve massively in that area of his game. All in all, Bogle could be a really smart addition to the Clarets ranks.

Verdict

Bogle is just 18 but he clearly has the potential to be worth significantly more in the coming years.

Hence, it will be better if Burnley can thrash out a deal for the right-back this summer. Truly, Dyche will have a top prospect in his side if a move goes through.
