Fortuna Düsseldorf vs Schalke 04 (5th vs 4th) :

The Matchday kicks off with only one match to be played on Friday.Schalke, who are in fourth place, begin the round of matches when they travel to promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf.

  • The Fortunen haven’t conceded a single goal this season, keeping this clean sheet going for about 540 minutes. They remain the only club in Europe’s top four leagues that is yet to concede a goal. And this is no small feat for a newly promoted club. But this game will greatly test their record and it will be a challenge for their back four to maintain it.
  • The Royal Blues can move up to second with a win. They also face a few injury problems as the likes of Jefferson Farfan, Jermaine Jones and Roman Neustadter are all doubtful.

Prediction : A very hard game to call and i think Schalke will just sneak through with a 1-0 victory.

Bayer Leverkusen vs G. Fürth (8th vs 16th)

Bayer Leverkusen hosts newly promote Greuther Fuerth.

  • Leverkusen won 2, lost 2 and drew one. Their start shows all signs of them justifying the status of a  “mid-table club”. Buy they would like to do better and with Andre Schürrle finally getting his first goal of the season, they should look to seal 3 points.
  • Fürth do not have much going their way so far other than their shock victory over Mainz on Matchday 2. They’ll need a lot more such shocks if they are to stay in the top flight.

Prediction : A comfortable win for Leverkusen, either a 2-0 or a 3-0 victory.

Werder Bremen vs FC Bayern (7th vs 1st)

Match of the weekend? Probably.Bayern Munich will be looking to keep their perfect start to the Bundesliga going on Saturday when they journey to Werder Bremen.

Will Bayern continue their good form?
  • Losing out to Borussia Dortmund for the past two seasons, Jupp Heynckes’ Bayern side have made a blistering start to the 2012/13 campaign, winning all five of their league matches so far, most recently with a 3-0 mauling of Wolfsburg on Tuesday.
  • Averaging at over three goals per game and having conceded just two in five games, they seem unstoppable for now.
  • Mandzukic has been hot, Ribery, Robben, Mueller and Kroos have been big factors in Munich’s success so far this year.
  • Luck finally favoured Thomas Schaaf and his men, as they managed to come back against Freiburg and hold onto the win. Bremen have shown a great deal of promise so far but have not been clinical and somewhat shaky defensively. With their central midfield pairing of Kevin de Bruyne and Aaron Hunt in top form, Bremen will be a dangerous side.
  • But will they stop the in form Munich side? We’ll have to wait and see

Prediction : I’ll bet against all odds and tip Bremen to snatch a point against Munich. I’m going for a 1-1 draw.

Nürnberg vs VfB Stuttgart (9th vs 17th)

Nuernberg host a struggling Stuttgart.

  • Stuttgart has been struggling this season and is looking to move up the table. They lie in 17th and are in a similar position as Liverpool are in the Premier League.
  • Stuttgart is competing in the Euro League next week and meets Molde FK. They’ll have to set priorities and this may affect its match against Nuernberg.
  • After a promising start to the season, Nuernberg have lost two on the trot. They rely heavily on Hiroshi Kiyotake and his dead ball situations.
  • Its high time the likes of Robert Mak, Per Nilsson and Alexander Esswein start performing.

Prediction :  Nurnberg 0-2 Stuttgart. I’m going with another bold decision considering Stuttgart haven’t won a game yet. But the recovery process is likely to start here.

1899 Hoffenheim vs FC Augsburg (11th vs 18th)

  • Hoffenheim had the worst start in the league having lost their first 3 games but with two back to back wins, they look likely to complete a hat-trick against rock bottom Augsburg.
  • Takashi Usami, a Japanese wonder is in fine form and he will be the key for them again.
  • Augsburg have been awful. Also, injuries to the likes of Simon Jentzsch, Ja-Cheol Koo and Knowledge Musona combined with a dreadful show in all their games so far is making them live upto their reputation of push overs.

Prediction : 4-0 to the home side.

Hamburger SV vs Hannover 96 (14th vs 3rd)

This will be my personal choice for the match of the game week.

  • Like Hoffenheim, Hamburg have also lost their first 3 games but are getting stable now after a hard fought famous victory over Champions Dortmund.
  • Van Der Vaart scored one and provided 2 in his last 2 games and looks to be the man to watch, though their defence will be a key to their success having let in 10 goals already.
  • Hannover  and their run to the 3rd spot can be credited solely to Szabolcs Huszti. The Hungarian has been involved in a whooping 13 out of the 14 goals they scored.
  • It is as simple as that for Hamburg, stop Huszti and the game is almost won.

Prediction : Another prediction out of the line from me. I’ll go with Hamburg 2-1 Hannover.

Borussia Dortmund vs M’gladbach (6th vs 10th)

Last year’s champion, Borussia Dormund hosts Borussia Moenchen Gladbach.

  • The match will see the much hyped Marco Reus play against his former club.
  • Dortmund are developing into this side which has absolutely no problems at home but struggling away.
  • Juan Arango will be crucial to Gladbach’s success in this fixture, all the more so given Lukas Piszczek’s tendency to push high up the field.
  • But all the facts favor the Champions and it will take something special from Gladbach to get anything from the game.
Prediction : Dortmund 2-0 Gladbach

Eintracht Frankfurt vs SC Freiburg (2nd vs 12th)

  • Frankfurt hope to continue their dream run and have truly been the surprise package so far. with 13 points out of 15, they lie in 2nd place and will hope this form continues when they host 12th placed Freiburg.
  • Takashi Inui and Stefan Aigner have been the Eagles’ players to watch, while their mainstays Pirmin Schwegler and Sebastian Rode add much needed solidity in midfield
  • Frankfurt have a bad away record having won just 3 out of their last 11. They have conceded in their last 4 away games as well.
  • The odds are stacked strongly against Freiburg, but how long can Frankfurt’s fairy-tale run go on for?

Prediction : Another win for Frankfurt, either a 2-0 or a 2-1.

VfL Wolfsburg vs- FSV Mainz 05 (13th vs 15th)

The last game on Sunday sees Wolfsburg take on Mainz. Neither team has fired on all cylinders so far this season. A draw is within the realm of possibility.
