Predicted Aston Villa Lineup To Face QPR In The EFL Championship

Aston Villa’s victory against Sheffield Wednesday took a lot out of the Villa players because they really battled to get that result and get back to winning ways. Villa had a bad week before that, losing against Fulham and then only managing a draw against Preston. Steve Bruce will know that he does not have many more opportunities to drop points.

With this in mind, the games coming up against QPR and Sunderland are ones he must win. Against Sheffield Wednesday, his players stood up to be counted when they went behind, and they threw their bodies on the line for the cause, which will be very encouraging for Steve Bruce. They currently sit 4 points behind Cardiff in second place and will be hoping that this game is the start of the run that hauls them back into 2nd place.

Last season’s top scorer Jonathan Kodjia is still out, while Alan Hutton picked up a hamstring injury very similar to the one that has kept Axel Tuanzebe out. Academy graduate Andre Green posted on social media about his recovery this week but Aston Villa are hopeful that both Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish will return this weekend.

GK – Sam Johnstone

The Villa stopper is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers outside of the Premier League and he proved his value against Sheffield Wednesday with a string of very important saves.

LB – Neil Taylor

If it were not for the Welsh international, there would be a bit of a crisis at left-back for Aston Villa. The former Swansea player can play in midfield and will have to push up against QPR.

CB – John Terry

The former Chelsea man has had a positive impact on Aston Villa and it seems like he is enjoying the twilight of his career. He endeared himself to the Villa faithful with his display in the Second City Derby, and he was pushing his teammates to not give up last weekend.

CB – James Chester

Chester has developed a good partnership with John Terry at the heart of the Aston Villa defence. They are similar players in a lot of ways but the work rate of the slightly younger Chester helps Terry out when he needs it.

RB – Ahmed Elmohamady

The form of the Villa right-back has been excellent this season, and the former Hull man is unlikely to lose his place anytime soon.

LM – Albert Adomah

Aston Villa’s top scorer has been out for the last three games and that has coincided with a bad run of form for the West Midlands side. His probable return to the team will improve their promotion chances.

CM – Jack Grealish

Another player to have been out for a few games, Jack Grealish is now the lynchpin of the Aston Villa midfield. He has put his personal problems behind him to be a key part of a highly impressive midfield.

CM – Conor Hourihane

The Irish international scored a hell of a goal at the weekend against Sheffield Wednesday and he can be pleased with his work. He has to keep his performance at that level to keep his place in the team.

RM – Robert Snodgrass

The on-loan West Ham midfielder has been shown the London side what they are missing all season, scoring a penalty and providing an assist against Wednesday.

ST – Lewis Grabban

Lewis Grabban has two goals in four games for Villa, and has only started one game so far. His power and pace will be useful for Villa in this game.

ST – Scott Hogan

Hogan and Grabban started to combine well together once the match got going against Sheffield Wednesday, and he will be hoping to grab a goal against a pretty leaky QPR defence.
