Aston Villa

Bruce to make 2 important changes – Predicted 4-4-1-1 Aston Villa XI to face Rotherham

Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Rotherham in the Championship

Aston Villa have made an underwhelming start to the season, which continued when they scraped out a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers. The focus though quickly shifts to their home game against Rotherham on Tuesday night. Steve Bruce would be desperate to get a win and restore some confidence in the team.

They will be up against a team that defeated Derby County on Saturday and are on the up in the table. Hence, this is a tough assignment for Villa even though they are at home. They must get the three points or the situation might get worse.

Team News

Scott Hogan is back in training but is unsure whether he will take part on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Keinan Davis is still struggling with a groin injury and Harry McKirdy is out for more than a few weeks after a shoulder surgery. Birkir Bjarnason is also a doubt.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Steve Bruce

Orjan Nyland (GK)

He hasn’t had the best of starts to his life at Villa Park but was good in the previous game. He is slowly gaining confidence and might prove to be a key figure for the team this season.

Axel Tuanzebe (RB)

Alan Hutton played at right-back on Saturday, however, it is highly unlikely that the veteran will be able to take the field 72 hours later. Hence, Tuanzebe might shift to right-back.

James Chester

James Chester (CB)

Chester had a solid game against Blackburn. The team needs him to keep producing the goods on a consistent basis.

Mile Jedinak (CB)

Played in the midfield on Saturday and faded away badly after the first half. Bruce may field him at centre-back in this game.

Neil Taylor (LB)

The Welshman had a mediocre game last time out, so the manager would want more from him.

Yannick Bolasie (LW)

Was on the bench against Blackburn and came on for the final 15 minutes. This might be the game for Bolasie to start.

John McGinn

John McGinn (CM)

The youngster has been one of the standout players for Aston Villa this season. He is almost certain to play most of the games for them.

Conor Hourihane (CM)

Saved the day with a wonderful free-kick right at the end on Saturday. With Jedinak possibly switching to the defence, Hourihane can slot in alongside McGinn.

Ahmed Elmohamady (RW)

Produced an underwhelming display against Blackburn. It will be interesting to see how patient Bruce remains with the Egyptian.

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish (CAM)

It is no coincidence that Grealish’s dip in form has affected the team’s overall performance. The youngster might need to up his game to lift the confidence of his teammates.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

On Saturday, Abraham showed why Villa got him on loan for this season. Despite missing three good chances, his contribution in the game was a class above.
