Britos Ruled Out: Strongest 4-3-3 Watford Line-Up To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Walter Mazzarri

Predicted Watford Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Watford will embark on a trip to North London as they gear up to face second-placed Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday in the Premier League.

The Hornets will go into the game high on confidence having won their previous two games in the league, with their latest win coming against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night. Sitting comfortably at 10th position in the league standings, Walter Mazzarri’s men will be hoping to cause an upset at the Lane. The two teams met last time on the New Years Day and Watford were hammered 4-1 by Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The Hornets will be hoping to avoid a similar outcome on Saturday.

Team News

Christian Kabasele is fit again and has returned to full training but fellow defender Younes Kaboul is likely to miss out due to a hamstring problem. Midfielders Ben Watson and Valon Behrami are also doubtful to feature as they continue to recover from injury problems. Watford will also be without the services of defender Miguel Britos who is suspended for one game after he was sent off against West Brom. Mauro Zarate and Roberto Pereyra are ruled out for the season.

Probable Watford Playing XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Walter Mazzarri

Heurelho Gomes (GK)

The 36-year old shot-stopper has just kept 6 clean sheets this season, but has been one of the stars of the season for Watford. The undisputed starter in goal.

Daryl Janmaat (RB)

The Dutch international has returned from injury recently, but hasn’t been involved heavily. However, he could start the game against Spurs.

Craig Cathcart (CB)

With Miguel Britos suspended and Younes Kaboul unfit, it would mean Craig Cathcart slotting into a central defensive position.

Sebastian Prodl (CB)

And alongside Cathcart, it will be Austrian defender Sebastian Prodl in the heart of the defence. The 29-year old has just missed three games this season and is a vital presence for Watford on the pitch.

Jose Holebas (LB)

At left-back it will be 32-year old Jose Holebas. The Greek defender has been a mainstay at the back for the Hornets this season and has featured heavily ahead of the likes of Christian Kabasele and Juan Zuniga.

Etienne Capoue (CM)

The Frenchman has been the top performer for Watford this season and has chipped in with 5 goals. He is a sure starter in the midfield.

Tom Cleverley (CM)

Tom Cleverley

The former Manchester United man has settled in well with the Watford side and having made his loan move from Everton permanent, he will look to impress the fans.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM)

With Valon Behrami unavailable, the third slot in the midfield will be occupied by Abdoulaye Doucoure. The 24-year old has been utilized regularly over the past few months by Mazzarri and Doucoure would look to make the spot his own.

Nordin Amrabat (RW)

On the right-flank it will be 30-year old Nordin Amrabat. The former Malaga man hasn’t been very effective in the attacking third and has failed to score a single goal this season. He would like to change that soon.

M’Baye Niang (LW)

The AC Milan loanee has made a great impact after arriving in January. He scored one and assisted one against West Brom in the midweek fixture and will look to continue in the same vein of form.

Troy Deeney (ST)

Club captain and leading goal-scorer Troy Deeney will be the focal point of the attack for Watford. The Englishman has scored 10 times this term and would be keen on adding more to his tally, but will find it difficult against the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
