Bristol City opinion – The Robins should sign Alex Rodriguez from Motherwell

According to a report in Football Scotland, Motherwell midfielder Alex Rodriguez (also known as Alex Gorrin) has been linked with a move to a Championship side Bristol City.

The 25-year-old Spaniard, who joined the Well last summer from Romanian side Sepsi SF. He has played 18 times in the league this season and done a decent job in the midfield.

The midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of this season, hence, he will be a free agent once the transfer window opens.

Other than Bristol, Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and Millwall are also interested in the player, who was once a Sunderland youth prodigy (h/t Football Scotland).

The Robins manager Lee Johnson has kept a close eye on the player as he aims to revamp his midfield ahead of the start of next season (h/t Football Scotland).

Here’s why the club should back the manager and help him sign Rodriguez in the summer window:

Rodriguez would be a great addition to Bristol

Alex Rodriguez is predominantly a central midfielder who can play in a double-pivot, or as one of the number 8s in a three-man midfield.

In terms of his attributes, the 25-year-old is more than decent in passing the ball around in the midfield. His turn of pace in possession to beat players in tight spaces is quite underrated, to say the least.

He has a physical nature in his game that helps him be dominant in the air and protect the ball from the markers. The Spaniard is not bad when it comes to reading the game off the ball and making crucial tackles and interceptions.

All in all, Rodriguez has developed into a compact midfield player, who has done well for Motherwell and can be an excellent addition to Bristol City.

Conclusion

With Lee Johnson aiming to add more quality to his midfield, getting the former Sunderland youth star would be a step in the right direction.
