Derby County 3-0 Bolton: Rams Crush The Wanderers To Grab 3 Important Points

Derby County welcomed relegation-threatened Bolton Wanderers with a playoff place on the line, and they cruised to a 3-0 victory in what was a very one-sided game at Pride Park. Derby took the lead early in the first half through Alex Pearce, who has come in for captain Richard Keogh in the last two games.

Top scorer Matej Vydra then doubled the Rams’ lead from close range before the end of the first half. Early in the second half, Tom Lawrence crushed a right footed shot from outside the box to end all hopes of a Bolton comeback.

Derby Player Ratings

Scott Carson – 7

A quiet day for the former England international but he dealt with everything that was thrown his way.

Andre Wisdom – 7

Solid game from the Derby right-back. Didn’t have too much to deal with.

Curtis Davies – 8

A routine day for Davies at the heart of the defence. Got an assist for his headed pass to Tom Lawrence.

Alex Pearce – 8

Took his goal very well and defended admirably to keep Bolton out.

Tom Huddlestone

Chris Baird – 7

Picked up a yellow card in the second half but was a part of a back-four that easily held Bolton at bay.

Joe Ledley – 7

Got an assist and kept the tempo up when Derby came under pressure.

Tom Huddlestone – 7.5

A calming presence at all times and his range of passing makes him stand out.

Andreas Weimann – 7

The quietest out of the Derby attacking players but was always a willing runner.

Matej Vydra – 8

The Rams’ top goal scorer got his 20th of the season before half-time. He was always a threat to the Bolton defenders.

Matej Vydra

Tom Lawrence – 7.5

Scored a cracker from outside the box to get his second goal in as many games. He grows in confidence once he scores.

David Nugent – 7

As the focal point of the Derby attack, David Nugent ran all day for his team. Although he didn’t pick up a goal, he pushed the Bolton defence back.

Substitutes

Kasey Palmer (for Matej Vydra) 6

He is unlucky that Matej Vydra is having such a brilliant season. He is a classy second option.

Cameron Jerome (for David Nugent) 6

Has yet to establish himself in the team and will continue on the bench if he continues to not have an impact.

Luke Thomas (for Tom Lawrence) N/A

Came on for his Derby County debut with 5 minutes left to play. A proud moment for the young man.
