Leeds United returned to winning ways when they got the better of a 10-man Bristol City at Elland Road with a comfortable 2-0 margin. Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez scored the goals to lead the Peacocks towards an important win after Josh Brownhill was sent off for the visitors.
This result cements Leeds’ position at third place in the standings with 33 points, two points ahead of West Bromwich Albion. Bristol, meanwhile, drop down to 14th place in the table with 22 points, closer to the relegation zone than to the promotion playoff spots.
Here’s how the Peacocks fared in the game:
A steady and secured debut for the England youth international. Wasn’t hesitant in coming out of his line to seize the danger. Didn’t have much to do otherwise.
A better showing from Dallas when compared to what we saw against West Brom. However, still not enough to really impress everyone.
Second debutant on the day and he was secured throughout, until he was replaced after the hour mark. Wasn’t tested enough .
The captain led a young defence to a clean sheet, which is a testament to how he performed. No alarms, no qualms whatsoever.
Another excellent outing from Douglas, who is fast becoming the signing of the summer. He almost scored an outrageous goal.
Leeds should be thankful they have someone like Phillips, who continues to impress week after week. His composure on the ball is incredible.
Tried to force the issue at times by attempting ambitious forward passes, which were cut off by the opposition.
Was given the task to become the creative force in the first half, and the Pole struggled to do so. However, he improved in the second half.
Continues to give low-key performances and that was the case this afternoon. Bielsa might think of replacing him soon.
Like the rest of the team, the Spaniard had a slow start to the game but eventually his class came out. Scored a goal late on, which was deserved.
Wasn’t given much service in the first half but the striker kept trying for the team. The second half was a different ball game though and Roofe scored a good goal to give his side the lead.
Guilty of taking too many touches in the box when it was not required. However, he injected pace into the attack.
