Brilliant Patrick Roberts – The Best And The Worst Rated Celtic Players vs St. Johnstone

Full Time: Celtic 4-1 St. Johnstone

Celtic continued on their winning ways in the Scottish Premiership, when they defeated St. Johnstone 4-1 at the Celtic Park on Saturday.

Patrick Roberts put the Hoops ahead with a low shot in the second minute of the second half, but the lead did not last long as the Saints pulled it back through Steven MacLean two minutes later. The whirlwind start to the second period continued as Celtic took back the lead through Dedryck Boyata’s stunning header.

And ten minutes later Roberts went on to all but seal the result with his second goal of the day. Substitute Callum McGregor then made it four immediately after coming on for Tom Rogic.

Here is how the Celtic players fared on the day:

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon – 6/10

Made an excellent stop, but the rebound ended up in the back of the net. Did not have much to do after that.

Anthony Ralston – 8/10

A surprise inclusion in the starting line-up, the youngster had a great game. Looked a threat each time he romped forward while remaining solid at the back.

Jozo Simunovic – 6/10

Not the best of the games after his brilliant display against Rangers last week. Caught out of position on occasions.

Dedryck Boyata – 7/10

Another rock solid display from the former Manchester City man. Continued his goal-scoring run with an excellent header to make it 2-0.

Kieran Tierney – 6/10

The 19-year old left-back had a fairly quiet game by his standards. Did nothing wrong, but wasn’t able to produce the spark either.

Nir Bitton – 5/10

The 25-year old’s performances left a lot to be desired once again. Doesn’t seem to do enough to break up play in the middle of the park.

Stuart Armstrong – 6/10

An uncharacteristically quiet day for the midfielder who has been in excellent form in recent weeks. Shooting was off the radar on occasions.

Patrick Roberts – 9/10

Had a quiet first-half but burst into life after the restart, putting his team ahead, before adding the third for Celtic. Taken off to a standing ovation. He will be missed once he returns to Manchester City.

Tom Rogic – 8/10

The Australian had a good game in behind the striker. Was always involved in everything positive for Brendan Rodgers’ side and caused plenty of problems for the Saints’ defence.

Michael Johnston – 8/10

Came in for the Scott Sinclair and the 18-year old did not let the Englishman’s absence be felt. Looked lively and full of confidence. Great prospect for the future.

Leigh Griffiths – 7/10

Linked up well with the rest of his attacking partners. Set Boyata up for the second goal with a pinpoint corner kick.

Substitutes

Scott Sinclair – 7/10

Replaced Johnston around the hour mark. Continued to pose a threat from the left-side. Set Roberts up for his second.

Callum McGregor – 7/10

Came on for Rogic in the 69th minute. Made immediate impact with a stunning goal as soon as he came on.

James Forrest – NA

Replaced Roberts in the dying minutes.
