Brilliant Lingard – The Best And The Worst Rated Man Utd Players From The 2-1 Win vs Swansea

Full Time: Swansea City 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester United coasted to a fairly comfortable 2-0 victory against Swansea City in Carabao Cup at the Liberty Stadium. Jesse Lingard scored 2 goals to put the Red Devils on top. His excellent finishes seemed to belong to a different game, as Swansea offered little resistance. United made seven changes from their defeat against Huddersfield, and finally put in a dominant performance.

The young players did not shy away from impressing and the fans will certainly be happy with the result. Jose Mourinho shuffled his squad well and was rewarded with a straightforward result.

Manchester United Player Ratings

Sergio Romero – 7/10

Romero was quite handy in front of the net and remained alert at all times. However, he was not tested much.

Matteo Darmian – 8/10

Darmian offered a lot more in the attack than he did in previous games. In fact, he also provided a superb assist for Lingard’s second goal.

Chris Smalling – 7.5/10

Smalling was quite accurate when it came to passing at the back. He was overall solid and stuck to the basics to ensure fluidity.

Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

His long passes were off, especially in the first-half. He also almost cost a goal for United and was low on confidence throughout the match.

Axel Tuanzebe – 8.5/10

The youngster was impressive on all fronts against Swansea. Not even once did he look nervous – the player was in his element. Built the play well.

Daley Blind – 6/10

He seemed nervy when in possession. Although his passing was decent, Blind should have gone forward a bit more in order to have been more effective.

Ander Herrera – 8/10

The midfielder was in better control after making no impact in the previous few matches. He was defensively solid and also created a fine pass which led to United’s opening goal.

Jesse Lingard – 9.5/10

He may not have played often this season but that did not stop Lingard from grasping this opportunity with both hands. He scored 2 goals, with two excellent finishes.

Scott McTominay – 8/10

McTominay combined quite well with the rest of the team to trouble Swansea. He played an intelligent game of football, which is a good sign for a player so young.

Anthony Martial – 6.5/10

Compared to the others, Martial was merely average. His style was pleasant to watch but they did not yield any results.

Marcus Rashford – 7.5/10

Rashford’s speed proved to be a problem for Swansea time and again. He may not have got his name on the score sheet but the young striker was making contributions nevertheless.

Subs:

Nemanja Matic – 7/10

Eased into his role after coming on in the 66th minute for Ander Herrera. Matic played his usual game against a seemingly uninterested Swansea side.

Romelu Lukaku – 6/10

The Belgian came in for Rashford but he was unusually quiet yet again.

Luke Shaw – N/A

Came on for Martial in the 87th minute.
