Swansea City 1-0 Burnley: Ki Sung-Yeung’s Late Strike Earns 3 Points For Carvalhal’s Men
Swansea City boosted their survival hopes to a whole new level when they beat 7th placed Burnley with a late strike from midfield maestro Sung-Yeung Ki earning them a 1-0 win. It was a heated up contest, with both teams having little to show in front of the goal for long periods of play. It was a lot to slug it out for but in the end, the Swans soaked all the pressure and continued their shocking resurgence to complete three home wins in a row.
The fairytale under new boss Carlos Carvalhal takes them to 27 points, just 4 behind 10th placed Bournemouth and 2 clear off the drop zone. Overall, it was a gritty performance by a side that looked doomed and done a month ago.

Lukasz Fabianski: 8.5/10
Very strong to come off his line and made two stellar stops in the second half to make sure they didn’t have a match to chase.
Kyle Naughton: 7.5/10
Certainly not one of those who would just sit back and defend all game. He played his part well, up and down the pitch. He looks like a player subtracted of errors and brimming with confidence.
Mike van der Hoorn: 6/10
Struggled for a while but complemented his partners efficiently. Two of his interceptions showed how aware he was.
Federico Fernandez: 6.5/10
On one hand, he tackled effectively while on the other, he was not as strong as the Burnley forwards, both on and off the ground. However, he disallowed much fuss.
Alfie Mawson: 8/10
He looks rock solid on the left-hand side of the central defence. Mawson blocked one shot to save the game and challenged the opposition players well.
Martin Olsson: 7/10
Decent, powerful defending from the left back. He made a few important clearances and curled in some vital crosses.
Nathan Dyer: 6.5/10
Spent most of his time defending behind the right-back but wasn’t as good as Clucas while getting forward. Defensively, he was sound.
Tom Carroll: 8/10
Initiated a lot of Swansea attacks, kept hold of the ball well and plugged the important gaps in the midfield. His passing was decent as usual.
Sung-Yeung Ki: 9/10
He really looks like the player we all saw under Garry Monk. Ki’s finish was an absolute japper, a well-drilled goal into the left bottom corner. He was never out of action throughout the game.
Sam Clucas: 7.5/10
Provided some well-whipped crosses into the box but spent most of his time defending in the midfield and shielding the backline to avoid any Burnley outflow.
Jordan Ayew: 8.5/10
Showed sheer hard work to keep the ball and win it back when needed. Jordan Ayew’s passing was alright. He got into a couple of goal scoring positions and wriggled past few players. Exciting performance.

Did some good running with the ball and added a lot going forward. Final ball wasn’t the best though.

Provided some much-required energy and gave it a fight till the very end. Used his height well and caused a late headache for the opposition.
