Brilliant Hoilett, Outstanding Morrison – The best and the worst rated Cardiff players vs Norwich

Full Time: Norwich City 0-2 Cardiff City

Cardiff really needed to win today after the pressure was heaped on them by Aston Villa last night. They certainly didn’t disappoint their travelling fans.

It took a while for the breakthrough to come and Norwich proved resilient but eventually, the pressure tolled and Cardiff took three points home. The race for 2nd place heats up.

Cardiff City Player Ratings

Neil Etheridge 7.5/10

Etheridge had a fantastic game for Cardiff today and really kept his side in the tie. Had to work hard for that clean sheet and it will mean a lot to him.

Lee Peltier7/10

A good performance from the right-back, who tackled hard and won his aerial challenges well.

Sean Morrison9/10

Morrison had an outstanding game. He dominated in the air and repelled all of the long balls that came his way. Looked every bit the Captain today.

Sol BambaN/A

Bamba left the field with an injury in the 34th minute.

Joe Bennett7/10

The left-back had a decent game today. He looked solid at the back and wasn’t challenged too much by the Norwich attack.

Aron Gunnarsson7.5/10

The Icelandic midfielder had a good game for the Bluebirds today. He broke up the play well and won his aerial duels as well.

Loic Damour6.5/10

Damour had a pretty average game in the centre of the park and was hooked by Neil Warnock at half-time. It doesn’t seem like it was an injury so it must’ve been a tactical change.

Junior Hoilett9/10

Hoilett has been top class for Cardiff all season and continued that form with another great goal. He looked threatening every time he got hold of the ball, driving at the Norwich defence.

Craig Bryson 7/10

Bryson didn’t have the best of games, but did manage four shots and worked hard in the attacking midfield position.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing7/10

Mendez-Laing had a decent game on the right flank, he worked better defensively than he did offensively but did have a couple of shots on goal.

Junior Hoilett

Gary Madine6.5/10

Looked excellent in the air but never really looked like scoring. It is not a surprise that he didn’t last the full 90 minutes.

Substitutes

Bruno Ecuele Manga7/10

Replaced Bamba in the 34th minute and Cardiff fans will be pleased with how easily he seemed to fit into the squad.

Callum Paterson6.5/10

Came on straight after half-time to replace Loic Damour. Didn’t do too much of note.

Kenneth Zohore8/10

Came on in the 73rd minute to replace the ineffective Gary Madine and it was an excellent substitution. Changed the game with his goal.
