Brilliant Fabregas – The Best And The Worst Rated Chelsea Players In Their Win Over Watford

After a couple of dead rubbers with not much excitement, Walter Mazzari’s Watford side put on a great show on their trip to the Stamford Bridge as they managed to push the champions of England right till the final minutes of the game. Having already won the title, Antonio Conte decided to rest a number of his key players and started a second string side on the night, that almost ran away with the game before the break.

Defenders John Terry and Cesar Azipilcueta scored before the break for the Blues on either side of Etienne Capoue’s equalizer as Watford had their chances to put Chelsea to the sword. Michy Batshuayi’s goal early in the second half looked like it would end the game in Chelsea’s favor but Daryl Janmaat and Stefano Okaka found the back of the net to strike level late in the game. However, Cesc Fabregas was at the right place at the right time, to finish off a thrilling encounter in Chelsea’s favor. Here are the player ratings for the Blues in this game:

Asmir Begovic (5):

Chelsea needed him to be strong, behind a makeshift defence but Begovic failed to add any kind of strength to his backline with some nervy moments.

Kurt Zouma (6):

Was decent at the back for Chelsea but needs to be more solid and reliable if he wants to be a part of the backline under Antonio Conte.

John Terry (8):

The man of the match on the night, Terry put in a solid performance, opening the scoring and keeping Watford away for most of the game, helping his side to a victory.

Nathan Ake (5):

Should have done a lot more at the back to stop Watford putting three past their defence but picked up the assist for Batshayi’s goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta(7):

Put in a memorable performance that included a goal that saw him carry the ball over a long distance, to restore Chelsea’s lead in the first half.

N’Golo Kante (5):

Was a bit lethargic coming back from an injury.

Nathaniel Chalobah (7):

Won the trust of his manager with an energetic and exciting shift in the midfield for his side, as he held the Watford attack for most of the game.

Kenedy (6):

Started as left-wing back and showed great energy going up and down his flank and was also involved in Batshuayi’s goal, on a decent night.

Willian (7):

One of the best players on the pitch from both sides, Willian was excellent with his forward movements and put in a solid shift to help Chelsea to a win.

Eden Hazard (6):

Did not look motivated enough at the start of the game but slowly grew into it and had his own effect on the scoreline.

Michy Batshuayi (7):

Showed great confidence in front of goal and was a genuine outlet in attack for Chelsea as he backed his title-winning goal from last weekend with another one in this game.
