Brilliant Azpilicueta And Costa – The Best And The Worst Rated Chelsea Players vs WBA

Chelsea continued their great title run at home, when they hosted a West Bromwich Albion team that was also on a hot streak, having won 3 of their last 4 matches. Over the first half, the ball was completely with Conte’s men, although the best opportunities fell for Tony Pulis’ side.

However, over the last fifteen minutes of the game, Diego Costa was able to intercept a pass and score a great goal, securing maximum points for the Blues. Here, we’ll discuss the player ratings of Conte’s side.

Thibaut Courtois 7/10

The Belgian was once again really important for the Blues, as he was able to contain West Brom’s early attacks with great ease and showing once again that he’s one of the best in the world right now.

Gary Cahill 8/10

Cahill was completely impassable during most of the match, especially when it came to aerial duels. The veteran from England was everywhere on defence and was one of the reasons why Chelsea shutdown Salomon Rondon in the second half.

David Luiz 6/10

Luiz was the weak link in defence tonight, as he left some open spaces and was kind of messy through most of the game. He had some nice chances off free kicks but couldn’t score.

Cesar Azpilicueta 8/10

The Spaniard had one of his best games of the season, contributing a lot on both ends of the field and becoming one of the most reliable choices for Antonio Conte over the season.

N’ Golo Kante 9/10

Kante was once again the most important player for the blues, being a complete wall in the center of the field while also being able to create and distribute the ball. Chelsea hit the jackpot with this Frenchman and he keeps getting better and better.

Nemanja Matic 7/10

Matic had a pretty decent game overall, especially on the defensive side of the pitch.

Victor Moses 5/10

This was arguably the worst performance from the Nigerian since earning a starting spot, as he didn’t do much during most of the game and was well contained by the opposing defence. He was subbed off in the second half.

Pedro 6/10

Pedro couldn’t do much either, as he was also well contained by the visitors, but he constantly tried to find spaces before being substituted.

Eden Hazard 6/10

The Belgian was also unable to make an impact for his team today given the outstanding defensive game that Tony Pulis put together. In fact, he was substituted right after Costa’s strike in order to seal the game with Branislav Ivanovic.

Marcos Alonso 7/10

Alonso showed one more time why Antonio Conte was so determined to bring him to the team. The Spaniard was all over the field and was one of the lone bright spots on offence for the blues today. He has adapted pretty well to the Premier League.

Diego Costa 7/10

Costa was a complete non-factor through most of the game, but he managed to save his day with a beautiful score that gave his team all 3 points.
