Brendan Rodgers Urges Liverpool Fans to Back his Team

Liverpool Brendan Rodgers has urged the fans to keep faith in him and his team ahead of the Premier League clash against Aston Villa tomorrow. He said that the fans should back the team that works tirelessly everyday and spoke about the relationship between him and the owner.

He said, “I’d ask the fans to keep faith with the team. To stay with the team who are working tirelessly every day.

He also talked about the big managers’ names being linked with the club. He said, “In terms of names linked when a manager of the club this size there is always going to be speculation, especially when not winning. I have regular contact with owners & that relationship is strong. No matter how much longer I’m here, I’ll have huge respect for them.

He also admitted that he is under huge pressure and he embraces the challenge. He said, “The pressure is huge, but I embrace that challenge. I respect that we need to get results. One win and we’re back around top 4. We’ve created that expectancy here because of how we’ve worked. How do I block it out? I focus very much on the team. I’d ask the fans to keep faith with the team. To stay with the team who are working tirelessly every day. No matter what league a team is from, when they defend like Carlisle did it can be very difficult to break down.”

Rodgers also talked about Danny Ings who scored two goals in last two games, “I’ve been very happy with his contribution since he came in here. What he’s done is grab the opportunity. We wanted to be more creative & we’re getting into good areas, but we need to be more clinical with our finishing. The squad are very stable and focused. They know it’s very early, they’re looking to create some kind of momentum.

Rodgers also confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will come back into the squad to face Villa.
