Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has admitted that the North London club will again spend money in the January transfer window.
Reportedly Ivan Gazidis told L’Equipe newspaper:
We will see where Arsenal will be in January and whether or not the club will invest in another forward.
Olivier Giroud won’t be able to go on all alone until the end of the season. We need to buy.
Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil in the summer for a club record fee and still they have enough cash balance in the bank to get one or two world class players.
There will be further investment in the team in the future, It was important for me to know that the club matched my ambitions and they clearly do.
But the question is will Arsenal invest in January to just get a backup for Giroud? or buy world class talents like Karim Benzema and El Shaarawy who will add instant quality to the squad.
El Shaarawy to Arsenal?Even though Benzema is a great striker, I would say El Shaarawy should be Wenger’s first preference in January. El Shaarawy’s directness, pace and cutting edge dribbles is what Arsenal miss at the moment. This was very much evident at Old Trafford defeat where Arsenal’s attack was very much blunt. El Shaarawy will be the perfect signing who can bring the sharpness back to this Gunners squad.
With reports saying that Italian star is available for a price of £25m, there is a high possibility that he could be Arsenal’s second Marquee signing of the year.
