Manchester United has already completed the signing of three players in various positions. The one position that is yet to see a new face is the central midfield and goalkeeping. With David De Gea at the post it is pretty much impossible to get an improvement at the goal post.
For the remaining position, i.e. the central midfield, Paul Pogba has been linked heavily. Another player who seems to be favorite to land up at Old Trafford in the summer is Blaise Matuidi. The 29 year old PSG midfielder suits the Jose Mourinho criteria and as per reports from L’Equipe states that the player has been cleared to speak to Manchester United.
Ideally a club cannot approach a player directly without a consent from the employing club but PSG seems to have given United and Matuidi the permission to have discussion and finalize the matter. While Pogba remains favorite to secure a move, United may sign Matuidi for a quarter of Pogba’s price. £20-30 million may be enough to bring the player to Old Trafford.
