Alex Witsel has expressed his interest to leave Zenit St. Petersburg after spending four years at the club. He has appeared in 150 matches during that time and has been a prominent player for the club.
Now that the world knows that Witsel wishes to leave, thanks to the Italian media, Liverpool has joined the race to sign him. Earlier it was speculated that Manchester United and Chelsea are battling for the player’s signature but now the battle has been structured three way.
All three clubs are looking to rebuild their squad with the ambition to qualify for the Champions League however Liverpool are ahead of Chelsea or Manchester United in terms of transfer dealings as the Reds have already signed four players in this transfer window. Liverpool has just signed Sadio Mane from Southampton a day ago and looks like Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen the midfield even more.
