As per claims now by talkSPORT, Belgian international Dries Mertens has discussed a potential switch to the Premier League, which has alerted Merseyside outfit, Liverpool. The 28-year-old winger who plays currently for Serie A side Napoli, has been quite impressive in recent times and recently stated that playing in England’s top division ‘would be a good challenge’.
Further the report adds that the Merseyside club has been interested in signing the attacker for a couple of seasons now, yet it remains to be seen whether they will make an offer for him or not. However, despite the claims he did not deny talks of a contract renewal at the Stadio San Paolo. In a recent interview with Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, he said, “The Premier League would be a good challenge. I have a contract until 2018, but maybe other options will appear then. Last week we talked about the renewal, it’s nice to know that the club is counting on you.”
