Veteran goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to return to the Old Trafford after Standard Liege terminated his contract at Belgium. The 34 year old player joined Liege on a loan deal in January as he has made only two appearances for United since joining the Red Devils in 2015.
Standard Liege terminated the Spaniard’s contract as the club has decided to give more playing time to the young players at the end of the season. Further, the 34 year old could not be selected for further games due to medical reasons. The player in agreement with the club has agreed to finish his loan period with Standard Liege at the end of this week.
Valdes helped Liege win the Belgian Cup at a time when the club was at its lowest point. He helped Liege beat Club Brugge in March but Les Rouches has decided to give young players a chance to play.
