Premier League champions Chelsea might have been really annoyed by the way they were repeatedly being rebuffed by their league rivals Everton, as they tried to sign England international John Stones this summer. Despite all that the west London side went through and failed, it seems now that the player might become a Blues’ star soon after all.
The latest speculations related to this subject have seen the Daily Mail suggest that the 21-year-old defender will request that a £38m buyout clause be added to any new contract that he will look to sign with the Merseyside club.
If Stones succeeds in what he wants, the Toffees would be helpless if the Blues return to bring him to Stamford Bridge next term.
It was clear that the Englishman wanted to move to west London in the summer window, but manager Roberto Martinez and co. did not let him and he had to stay at Goodison Park for the time being, at least.
