Champions of England, Chelsea will now look to push to complete a deal for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, as per reports. Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho was keen on signing more quality attackers for his squad and will now look to bring the Argentine international to Stamford Bridge.
The west London side have not had the best of starts to the Premier League campaign, with a draw against Swansea on the opening day of the season and a loss to Manchester City this weekend. The superstar striker was being strongly linked with a move to Chelsea this summer and reports had claimed that the club were keen on signing him.
It was further stated that the Portuguese boss considered the former Real Madrid man as a backup for Diego Costa and had asked the club officials to push for a deal. At present, Higuain has a release clause of £63.9m in his current contract, which Napoli are expecting any interested club to pay, as Chelsea look to get a deal sorted out.
