Chelsea are set to make a move for their summer transfer target Lazio Defender Stefan De Vrij in January.
De Vrij was linked with a move to the Bridge in the summer and while the player is Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s No 1 target, the Blues boss was not able to sign him during the summer.
Although Chelsea signed David Luiz and Marcos Alonso on the deadline day, the Blues boss still regards De Vrij as his number one target for January. Conte is looking for a long term replacement of for his current defending squad which includes players like John Terry who is 35 and Gary Cahill who will turn 31 soon.
While Chelsea are keen on signing the player, Lazio are adamant on keeping the player at Rome. The club is looking to extend his contract beyond 2018 to stop him from leaving the club.
