According to the latest reports, Arsenal are in advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign their striker Gonzalo Higuain and if everything goes well, they could wrap up the deal by next week.
Many Spanish newspapers reported that Wenger directly held talks with Higuain and his agent. This could play a huge role in luring the player away from the sights of other interested clubs like Juventus, Liverpool and Tottenham. Now Arsenal are favorites to sign him.
Last season, Higuain was over shadowed by Ronaldo and Benzema, but he still managed to score 16 goals in 28 games for Real Madrid. Real Madrid management already confirmed that Higuain will not be a part of next season’s plans.
After Robin Van Persie’s departure, Arsenal are desperate for a 25 goal/season striker. Higuain is probably what Arsenal need now. With his directness and good finishing skills, he can score goals for fun in this Arsenal team who usually creates a lot.
If the deal goes through, Higuain will become Arsenal’s all time record signing (£20 million).
