Brandon Barker
Brandon Barker was one of the summer signings for Rangers this time around, and the English winger has claimed that he rejected several offers to move to Scotland.
The former Manchester City winger spent time on loan at Hibernian before joining Rangers permanently on a three-year deal (h/t Scottish Sun).
The 22-year-old told BT that he got offers from several Championship clubs, however, the options weren’t appealing to the winger (h/t Scottish Sun):
“I had quite a few options down south.
“I had like three or four teams in the Championship but none of them was really in my heart.
The youngster added that he was interested in a permanent switch from City and was ready to call Rangers his home:
“When you get a level of Rangers come in, it’s always a lot better to call this place your home.
“The excitement of becoming better and competing for things… it was a no-brainer really.”
The youngster started in Rangers’ win over 4-0 win over St Johnstone and had even scored on his league debut for the Gers.
Ryan Kent, who was signed from Liverpool in the summer, is out for a while and Barker should get chances to impress manager Steven Gerrard.
The Gers have started their Europa League campaign well with a 1-0 win over Dutch side Feyenoord and Barker got a few minutes on the pitch in that clash.
The aim has to be winning the Scottish Premiership from Celtic and that won’t be easy, even after the Hoops lost Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City in the previous season.
The Hoops had beaten Rangers 2-0 earlier in the season at Ibrox, and it will be interesting to see how the rivalry plays out in the coming months.
