Brace Number Eight For Lionel Messi

Barcelona trashed Levante 4-0 in extending their lead over Madrid to 11 points making it next to impossible for the Galacticos to turn it around. The Catalans have now won 12 matches and a draw which equals Madrid’s start from the 1991-92 season as the best ever in Spain’s top league.

It was again that man Messi who scored a brace and Fabregas and Iniesta chipped in with a goal each. It was not before the second that Levante managed to slip in the first goal scored by Messi. Iniesta made a delightful pass to Messi who slotted the goal above the keeper’s head at the 47th minute mark and just after 5 minutes scored another goal thanks to some good footwork by Iniesta. And it was that man Iniesta again, this time on the score sheet scoring Barca’s third goal. Fabregas then got Barca’s fourth as he and Iniesta played a glorious one-two inside the penalty area before Fabregas rounded the goalkeeper and finished from a tight angle. Iniesta was surely the star of the night involving in all the four goals the Catlans scored.

However there was another record created by Messi last night, the Argentinian have now scored eight braces in the league so far and also a hattrick. Barcelona are now 11 points ahead of rivals Madrid and 3 points ahead of closest competitors Atletico Madrid.
