Bournemouth winning the race for this Everton speedster would help them deal with the potential exit of Fraser

Bournemouth opinion: Should the Cherries win the race for Lookman?

Bournemouth finished their season in 14th place with more than a few players impressing the world along the way. Callum Wilson finished as their top scorer with 14 goals, with Ryan Fraser dominating the assists chart with 14 to his name.

However, one of their standout stars was David Brooks, with the youngster contributing to 12 goals in a fantastic debut season. Furthermore, the Cherries played so well that at one stage it looked like they were on par to finish amongst the top seven sides in the Premier League.

But fate had other ideas and instead, injuries plagued manager Eddie Howe’s team sheet with just Ryan Fraser one of the few players left. That affected their form and saw them plunge down to 14th place but they did in a rather incredible style.

The fact is that barring the top six sides, nobody even came close to the number of goals that the Cherries netted but the fact that conceded more than that saw them finish with a negative goal difference.

Things need to change and manager Eddie Howe faces a massive summer window. The likes of Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson and even Nathan Ake have all been touted to leave. While replacing them won’t be easy, it’s a job that the club have to take care of.

And given Howe’s propensity to chase young starlets, it’s why a move for Ademola Lookman makes a lot of sense. The Bournemouth Echo has reported that the Cherries are the latest side interested and that should come as no surprise.

Immensely talented, the young winger has struggled to make an impact under new Everton manager Marco Silva. That has seen the likes of Southampton and Bournemouth take a keen interest. But given the fact that Ryan Fraser’s future is in doubt, the Cherries need a replacement.

And if there is one player who can do it, it is Lookman as he has the ability to walk straight into the team. Ambidextrous and versatile, Lookman has the talent and the drive to succeed but as mentioned above, he has rarely been given the chance.

His time at RB Leipzig last season saw just what he can with regular game time. That is something Bournemouth should convince him of and make a move before either Everton offer him a new deal or someone else swoops in with an offer.

Conclusion

More than anything, Bournemouth need a new attacker on their team-sheet. However, they also need to reinforce other areas but before that, they need to make sure that Ademola Lookman joins the club.

With him at their disposal, they won’t have to worry about the future and the 22-year-old gets a club that genuinely wants to give him a chance.
