The Merseyside club have been trying to sign Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke for quite some time now and were linked with the striker since the summer transfer window opened.
Villa on the other hand are quite reluctant to let go of the Belgian international and will not lower their asking price of £32.5m, the release-clause amount in his current contract.
Apart from Brendan Rodgers’ side, their fierce rivals Manchester United have been linked with the 24-year old as they currently have only one recognized first choice forward.
On Wednesday, Benteke favored a tweet linking him to the Red Devils, after a fan replied to the Daily Mail’s tweet about a news that they had reported.
However, Benteke’s agent Kismet Eris assured Sport Witness that the speculations were “not true at all”, which would surely delight the Liverpool fans as a potential summer deal is still on the cards.
