An out of form and troubled Aston Villa face Millwall in the Championship this weekend, away from home. Steve Bruce’s men scored a late equaliser against bottom side Preston North End to rescue a point in the midweek at home. However, that wasn’t good enough as Villa are better than that. For some reason, they are not able to get the desired results.
Now with Bruce gone, the team will be in the hands of an interim manager for this game.
They now face a Millwall team who are languishing at the bottom three of the table. Hence, if Villa need a result, this could be the game for them to get their act together and actually win a football match.
Keinan Davis and Harry McKirdy are the only players who are out with injuries at the moment. The rest all are fit to face Millwall if the interim manager decides to change his line-up a bit, which he should do given that Villa have won only one game in the last five.
Conceded three goals in his first appearance of the season but he can’t be held responsible for any of it. Made a couple of good saves too, hence, he should keep his place for this game.
The Egyptian has been inconsistent this season, but his best position is right-back and should start here.
The Manchester United loanee looked comfortable at centre-back in the last game despite getting beaten few times.
With James Chester suspended, expect Jedinak to take his place in central defence.
Alan Hutton is an experienced player but it would be tough for him to play thrice in a week. Hence, Taylor may get a chance.
The youngster has been one of the consistent players in the team this season and should start this game.
Missed a last-gasp penalty which would have won the game for Villa against Preston. His experience could be key against Millwall though.
Grealish continues to impress in his new position and should once against start here at left-wing.
Another player who has looked good in his new position as a No.10. He shows grit and determination to play for the team.
He deserves a start now. Though Jonathan Kodjia scoring against Preston, he is still out of form at the moment. This means that Everton loanee Bolasie deserves a chance.
