Blow For Liverpool! Jurgen Klopp Interested In Signing Serie A Forward But Faces Tough Competition

Liverpool have re-sparked their interest in Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi but are in a race to sign the young startlet who is also wanted by Juventus and Inter Milan.  The 22-year-old has spent large parts of this season out with injury, but is still in high demand by a number of clubs.

The Sassuolo attacker has bagged 29 goals in 65 Serie A games for Sassuolo. And that form appears to have caught Klopp’s eye as he looks to add to his frontline options. Berardi is a player that can be used as a striker and as a winger, a trait that Klopp loves to have.

With Sadio Mane leaving for the African Cup Of Nations, the Reds have been keeping tabs on the Italian, as they look to bolster their attack in the push for the title race. Berardi had scored seven goals in just eight appearances, prior to his injury this season.

And with Daniel Sturridge’s long-term future uncertain, amid rumours linking him with a move away from Anfield, the Merseyside team will look towards a young, fast, skilful and clinical player.

However, they are not the only team said to be interested in taking him away from the Mapei Stadium. Sassuolo’s domestic rivals Inter Milan and Juventus are apparently keen on the Italy Under-21 international too.

Juventus are the team currently in pole position to land Berardi though. The Turin-based outfit are believed to have a £22million offer first-refusal option on the player.

But any side hoping to sign Berardi may be forced to wait until the summer with Sassuolo reluctant to sell their prized asset in January.
