Billy Sharp To Lead The Attack – Strongest 3-5-2 Sheffield United Line-Up To Face Chesterfield

Sheffield United

Predicted Sheffield United Lineup To Face Chesterfield

An amazing unbeaten run has taken Sheffield United to a clear League One title win and they will look to finish the season on a major high here in front of their own fans at Bramall Lane.

The key to the Blades’ season has been the excellent signings they made last summer. Their recruitment was excellent and the players have blended together superbly. They already look like a genuine Championship side and will no doubt look to strengthen more in the months to come so that they can be a real danger next season.

Chris Wilder does love his 3-5-2 and there will be no reason to change it for the last game. His best players will get a chance to impress in front of a big crowd.

Probable Sheffield United Starting XI:

Formation: 3-5-2

Manager: Chris Wilder

GK – Simon Moore

The 26-year-old ‘keeper has only missed 3 league games this season and will be between the sticks once more.

CB – Chris Basham

A real stalwart and a danger during set-pieces, the side wouldn’t be the same without him. He will surely start the game.

CB – James Wilson

Not many chances to impress this season, but the Welshman is fully capable. Should start alongside Basham at the back.

CB – Jack O’Connell

One of the successful summer recruits, the defender has 4 league goals to his name and will form a part of an impressive back 3.

RM – Kieran Freeman

Despite having to do his share of defending, Freeman has smashed in 9 league goals from out wide this season and has been the most impressive player.

CM – Danny Lafferty

The Northern Irishman has been solid in the middle and will retain his place. Will feature alongside Duffy in central midfield.

CM – Mark Duffy

38 league appearances for the Liverpudlian since joining from Burton Albion, he’ll get a chance to add to his 6 league goals.

CM – Paul Coutts

Completes a well balanced central midfield area. He will have an important role to play if Sheffield United are to beat Chesterfield.

LM – John Fleck

Not his natural position you would suspect. However, Fleck has gone about his business with the minimal fuss this season and the former Rangers man can be influential once more.

ST – Leon Clarke

Plenty of experience up front for the Blades with these two; Clarke, having netted 7 goals in 22 games since joining from Bury last summer, adds crucial calm in the closing weeks of the season.

ST – Billy Sharp

The 31-year-old is arguably in the form of his life. Should the Blades manage to finish on a big note here, they’ll need to supply their main man with chances. 29 league goals in 45 appearances would suggest he will not let them down and on a personal note, he would love to get his 30th League One goal of the season.
