Bielsa’s Leeds XI featuring this £11m top target looks absolutely capable of achieving PL promotion

Leeds XI featuring Matej Vydra

According to reports, Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Matej Vydra from Derby County.

The Czech Republic attacker’s move to Elland Road is expected to go ahead after he was left at home by new boss Frank Lampard for the Rams’ pre-season training camp in Tenerife.

Leeds are said to have made a £11million bid for Vydra, who was the Championship’s top-scorer last season with 21 goals.

Without further ado, let us have a look at the Leeds line-up fitting in Matej Vydra.

Probable Leeds XI

Manager: Marcelo Bielsa

Formation: 3-3-1-3

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (GK)

Young goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell was given a chance to impress, with experienced guns Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan underperforming last season. And the North Irishman impressed, which could see him start in goal next season.

Luke Ayling (RCB)

Ayling has established himself as a fan favourite at Leeds due to high work-ethic and energetic performances. He is reliable defensively but has to show more ambition going forward if he is to become a regular starter under Bielsa.

Pontus Jansson of Leeds United.
Pontus Jansson

Pontus Jansson (CB)

Jansson didn’t have a very good season at Elland Road but he remains the club’s undisputed leader at the back. A no-nonsense defender, the Swede has to improve his technique and keep himself away from injuries to excel next season.

Gaetano Berardi (LCB)

Berardi endured an inconsistent campaign but needs to improve his overall game if he is to play regularly next term.

Stuart Dallas (RWB)

A highly energetic and industrious player, Dallas could be the man at the right wing-back under Bielsa.

Tom Pearce (LWB)

Tom Pearce could be stationed at left wing-back. The youngster is an exciting player filled with bundles of energy. He is a workhorse who would certainly thrive under Bielsa.

Adam Forshaw (CDM)

Forshaw spent most of the time on the sidelines last season but he could be the ideal man to perform the defensive duties as well as create opportunities from a defensive midfield role.

Leeds United
Pablo Hernandez

Pablo Hernandez (RW)

Pacy, creative and experienced, Pablo Hernandez would be the perfect man to play on the right-wing.

Ezgjan Alioski (LW)

Alioski is a man who is capable of creating something out of nothing. On the left-wing would be Alioski under Bielsa.

Samuel Saiz (CAM)

A player gifted with exceptional technique and composure, Saiz would be the man to start behind the main striker. The Spaniard is a creative player whose importance would be mighty under Bielsa next season.

Matej Vydra (ST)

The top-scorer in the Championship last season, Vydra would be the ideal man to lead Leeds’ attack next season. A proven goalscorer, the Czech Republic international will arrive at Elland Road with lofty expectations.
