Best And Worst Rated Liverpool Players vs Leicester: No End Product From Firmino

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Leicester

Leicester’s dream run continued with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Liverpool. The Foxes stayed on top of the Premier League table after dispatching Jurgen Klopp’s men thanks to a brace from Jamie Vardy, the first goal certainly being a goal of the season contender.

Liverpool did have a few chances but were undone in the second half after a rasping pass from Mahrez found Vardy who hammered home a first-time volley outside the box and the ball looped over Simon Mignolet. Leicester then made it two thanks to a deflected pass falling at the feet of Vardy who expertly lifted the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

The Blues were good value for the win while Liverpool will have to look deep to get their season back on after a couple of cup games. We rate the Liverpool performance in this loss against Leicester.

Simon Mignolet – 6/10

Really couldn’t do much about either goal, Mignolet might not be the best goalkeeper in the world but no one could have saved Vardy’s first goal though.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10

Probably one of the few players who had a decent game for Liverpool, Clyne did well on his return to the squad and put in a great shift.

Dejan Lovren – 6/10

Lovren couldn’t deal with the pace of Vardy for the first goal but no one can lay blame on the Croatian for the goal Liverpool conceded, did well apart from that for the Reds.

Mamadou Sakho – 4/10

Culpable for the second goal at least, Sakho puts up one good performance and then a stinker in the next. Jurgen Klopp does have a job at his hands.

Alberto Moreno – 6/10

Moreno did alright down the left but his final delivery was poor tonight and certainly didn’t help when Benteke was on the pitch, not that Liverpool did much to threaten the Leicester defence.

Emre Can – 5/10

Another poor showing by the Liverpool midfield, the second half was almost inexistent for the Reds and the drive and desire seems missing from the German and the rest of the midfield.

Jordan Henderson – 6/10

The captain was yanked off early in the second half after Liverpool conceded and was one of the few players who tried to get something going but he didn’t really do much to dent Leicester’s defence.

Lucas Leiva – 5/10

The Brazilian put up another poor showing in midfield as he was taken out of the game by Kante and company. Lucas might be one of the few defensive midfielders that Liverpool have but if he continues playing like this, he won’t be here for long.

Adam Lallana – 6/10

The Liverpool attacker couldn’t combine all that well with Firmino and Milner, sure there were a lot of short passes between the players but nothing really that would threaten Kasper Schmeichel in the goal.

James Milner – 7/10

Another James Milner-esque performance didn’t do much wrong but didn’t do anything that great either. Was a good team player but certainly playing him now in midfield makes more sense than higher up in the pitch.

Roberto Firmino – 4/10

The Brazilian was also another player didn’t do much in the second half, he did have a few good touches in the first half but no end product means the striker for the day gets a low rating.

Substitutes

Christian Benteke – 4/10

The Big Belgian came on early in the second half after Liverpool went one down but wasn’t given a lot of service to do something worthy for the Reds.

Joe Allen – NA

Was brought on for Emre Can in the 75th minute but hardly could do much to stamp his authority in the game.

Joao Teixeira – NA

Brought on as a late substitute but couldn’t really do much with the few minutes he had.
