Arsenal kicked off the defence of their FA Cup title with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland. The Gunners were always favourites for the game but it was the away side that took the lead thanks to Jeremain Lens. Arsenal though responded in style by scoring three unanswered goals with Joel Campbell, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud sealing their passage into the next round.

Arsenal gave a couple of youngsters a chance in the team and they did fair well though the undisputed man of the match was Hector Bellerin. We look back at the game and provide the player ratings for the Arsenal side.

Petr Cech – 7/10

Cech couldn’t really do much to stop the goal but barring that, he had a decent game for Arsenal.

Hector Bellerin – 9/10

The right-back was the man of fire as he provided a couple of assists in the second half and was brilliant against Sunderland.

Gabriel Paulista – 6/10

Paulista and his partner in defence should have done better for the goal conceded but barring that they were alright.

Laurent Koscielny – 6/10

Kieran Gibbs – 6/10

An almost forgotten man at Arsenal, Gibbs provided an assured display in defence and also linked up well with the attack.

Calum Chambers – 7/10

The youngster was played in midfield and did a decent job, though he was outrun by the Sunderland team a number of times.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6/10

Alex had a decent game in attack for Arsenal but should do more if he wants to keep a starting berth in the team.

Joel Campbell – 8/10

The Costa Rican seems to be doing the right things and bagged himself a goal against Sunderland.

Alex Iwobi – 7/10

The youngster got a chance to show the Arsenal faithful what he can do on the big stage and looked brilliant in the first half.

Theo Walcott – 6/10

The English attacker got an assist to his name but that was as much as he did for Arsenal in the game.

Olivier Giroud – 8/10

The French forward got a goal but otherwise had a hit and miss game for the Gunners, he needs to do a lot more and be involved during the game.
