untitled-design-54

We are just a couple of months into the domestic season but the fixture list has already produced some thrilling encounters between some top class teams in England. It is now the turn of the domestic League Cup to provide some entertainment this week. In what will be a fierce affair, Manchester City will travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday to take on Mourinho’s side, for the second time this season, but to play the Round of 16 of the League Cup.

There are a number of star players in either side and here is a combined XI of the best players from both sides:

David de Gea (Manchester United):

Beyond doubt one of the best goalkeepers in the country, De Gea is easily a better option than Claudio Bravo who has made a disastrous start to his career in England.

Antonio Valencia (Manchester United):

The 31-year-old was one of those few sparks in the game against Chelsea, for United, and he should be easily be lined up ahead of Zabaleta, who has had a rough season so far.

Chris Smalling (Manchester United):

The Manchester United man has stayed solid at the back for the Red Devils this season and has made it into the side ahead of the likes of Kompany. With Bailly set to miss the game, the Englishman will be our choice.

John Stones (Manchester City):

The former Everton man did make a costly error against the Saints but recovered it with full throttle. The 22-year-old is thriving under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and is easily ahead of Daley Blind

Alexander Kolarov (Manchester City):

Having adjusted well to a 3-man defense recently under Guardiola, Kolarov is growing on to become one of the most consistent defenders in the league and is the left-back for this XI.

Fernandinho (Manchester City):

The 31-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder has played every single minute in the Premier League for Guardiola and is easily a most trusted chief for the Spaniard. So no doubt as to why he is on our list.

David Silva (Manchester City):

The Spaniard has been in sublime form for Guardiola this season and is easily one of the best players in this combined XI for both sides.

Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City):

The Belgian international has lost some of his form in the last couple of games but he has been City’s best player for the first month and a half and will find his place in this side.

Juan Mata (Manchester United):

The Spaniard has not been a regular started for United this season but has been one of the most productive players for the side and makes it into this XI.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City):

The former Liverpool man has come to life under Guardiola and is one of the most influential playesr for City this season. He makes it into this squad on his form.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City):

The Argentine has been unstoppable in front of goal this season and wins the race against Zlatan Ibrahimovic with ease for a place in this lineup.
