With 10 days to go, the transfer window is heating up. It hasn’t been the busiest summer in recent years and that could be down to the Premier League’s domination of European competition last season but it’s never a good idea to get complacent.
One club that is going through a massive change are Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have been one of the up and coming teams of this decade and came very close to realizing their potential last season after reaching the final of the Champions League.
There has been stability at Tottenham ever since Mauricio Pochettino arrived at the club. There were doubts if they could sustain their rise but they have and they’re now in the best place possible as they head into a new stadium.
They also spent money in the transfer window with the arrival of French international Tanguy Ndombele and youngster Jack Clarke, who has gone back on loan.
Spurs have been linked with two Argentinians in Giovanni Lo Celso from Real Betis and Paulo Dybala of Juventus. They’re both players who like to play in a central role and become a link between the midfield and the attack, with Lo Celso being the deeper option, whereas Dybala is the more attacking option.
Let’s discuss who might be a better fit for Spurs:
Lo Celso had a breakthrough season for Betis last season while on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. He played a slightly more advanced role and really thrived, with 16 goals and 9 assists scored in all competitions last season.
He would fit in perfectly with new signing Tanguy Ndombele, either in front of him or alongside him, and would work in Pochettino’s high-pressing system. Tottenham are willing to up their offer from £45m to £54m, and it remains to be seen if the move takes place.
Dybala is a superstar already but struggled last season due to the introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serie A. The £80m Argentine star often had to play wide, which isn’t his best position.
He didn’t have the best league season, with 5 goals and 2 assists to his name, but he would become Spurs’ biggest signing in their history and send shockwaves throughout Europe.

They’d both be fantastic signings but Paulo Dybala would be too hard to ignore. He can play as a number 10, as a false 9 and on the wing as well. His versatility and his quality would make him an easy pick.
